What Is The Market Telling Us

Freshpet’s shares are very volatile and have had 26 moves greater than 5% over the last year. But moves this big are rare even for Freshpet and indicate this news significantly impacted the market’s perception of the business.

The previous big move we wrote about was 8 days ago when the stock gained 3.6% on the news that JP Morgan raised its price target on the stock and Oppenheimer noted the company is well-positioned to meet its financial goals. The investment bank maintained its Overweight rating on Freshpet while increasing its price target to $72.00 from $68.00, signaling a positive outlook.

Adding to the bullish sentiment, analysts at Oppenheimer stated that the company is poised to deliver on its second-quarter expectations and full-year 2026 financial targets. However, Oppenheimer also noted that Freshpet is expected to reiterate its full-year outlook given the current challenging macroeconomic environment.

Freshpet is up 17.8% since the beginning of the year, but at $70.88 per share, it is still trading 17.1% below its 52-week high of $85.50 from March 2026. Despite the year-to-date gain, investors who bought $1,000 worth of Freshpet’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at only $517.08.
